Three incumbent officials are on the United Negros Alliance shortlist for the Negros Occidental vice gubernatorial post in 2025, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, UNegA secretary general, said on Monday, November 6.

That is because Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, UNegA chairman, has signified his intention to run for representative of the 4th District of Negros Occidental, although it is not final yet, he said.

Ferrer’s wife, Juliet Marie Ferrer, is on her last term as representative of the 4th District.

The congresswoman is very firm in her decision not to run as vice governor, Escalante said.

Escalante would not reveal the names of the three officials on the shortlist for vice governor, and said he was not among them.

Under their coalition with Love Negros, UNegA has the option to pick the vice gubernatorial bet, Escalante said.

Escalante also denied that Rep. Alfredo Marañon III (Neg. Occ., 2nd District) was interested in the governorship in 2025. Marañon is also very firm in his decision to finish his three terms as congressman, he said.

Escalante said the UNegA officials met before the October 30 polls, and will meet again on November 17.*
