Isabela’s Team Asenso commits to Sara’s 2022 presidential bid

Another political group in Negros Occidental has committed to support Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte- Carpio’s presidential bid in 2022.

Vice Mayor Renato Malabor Jr., who heads Team Asenso of the town of Isabela, said that his team has agreed to support the Davao mayor if she decides to run for the country’s top post, retired PCol. William Senoron, Padayona Inday Sara Movement- Negros convenor, announced in a press release Sunday, August 29.

Malabor led his team in a dialog with Padayona Inday Sara Movement- Negros leaders on Thursday.

“Inday Sara is the only probable presidential candidate who has the capacity and willpower to continue the legacy of his father President Rodrigo Duterte,” the vice mayor said.

Team Asenso also includes former Councilor Raffy Uy as their vice mayor bet and the candidates for municipal councilors: Francis Malabor, Elsa Candelario, Danny Magan, Henry Fuscablo, Jonel Magallon, Sarry Sarimong and Reden Decena.

Also expressing their support for Duterte- Carpio were former SB member Patrick Miguel Montilla, brother of the late mayor Quito Montilla, and former barangay captain Anthony “Makoy” Javelosa of Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City.

Malabor is a member of the national party, National Unity Party and the provincial party United Negros Alliance (UNegA) based in Negros Occidental.

He added that the decision to join the nationwide call for Duterte- Carpio to run for president next year “is a consensus of our group in consultation with our leaders in Isabela.”

Malabor also called on his fellow Isabeleños to also join the movement to urge the presidential daughter to run in next year’s elections.

Malabor and his group is the latest of growing number of local political leaders to express their support for Duterte- Carpio, the press release said.

Earlier, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez, Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson, La Castellana Mayor, Rhumyla Nicor Mangalimutan and Hinigaran Mayor Nadie Arceo declared their support for Duterte-Carpio, it added.*
