The installation of solar panels on the roof of the Negros Occidental Capitol in Bacolod City has been completed and is expected to be operational before the end of August, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said on Monday, August 25.
On Monday, Capitol employees assisted WeGen Energy Philippines Inc. in installing the 150-kW transformers for the solar power inverters at the Capitol, he said.
“We are one week ahead of schedule in the installation because of favorable weather and the provincial employees are also assisting,” he said.
These panels will supply the Capitol with green energy at a fixed rate of ₱6.90 per kilowatt-hour for the next 15 years, Diaz said earlier.
The Public Private Partnership project comes at no cost to the provincial government, as WeGen Energy Philippines Inc. is handling the installation and will sell the power to the province, he said.
Following the completion at the Capitol, solar panels will also be installed at the Food Terminal Market Occidental Negros, the Negros Residences, and the Negros First Cyber Centre, Diaz said.*
