
A 51-year-old inmate was injured after he was stabbed by fellow persons deprived of liberty inside the Negros Occidental District Jail in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City on Friday morning, Jan. 17.
The victim was identified as alias “Palo,” while the suspects were identified as inmates “Eduardo,” “Joseph,” “Reynold,” “Ronald,” and “Marjun”, the police said.
The Bago City Police Station said the stabbing happened at around 7 a.m. inside Building A of the jail compound.
Investigation showed the victim was walking from Cell 2 for a sunning activity when he was first stabbed by two inmates using improvised weapons.
Police said the victim ran and entered another cell where he was again stabbed by three other inmates using a knife.
The injured inmate was rushed to the Bago City Hospital and was later referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.
Police said investigation into the incident is ongoing.*
