Injured cop in drug bust gets medal, financial aid

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) Director, Col. Rainerio De Chavez, awarded a “Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting” to the police officer who was injured after a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Tan-awan, Kabankalan City.

De Chavez awarded the medal to PSSgt. Iric Montoy at the Holy Mother of Mercy Hospital in Kabankalan on Thursday, July 4, for the successful operation that led to the arrest of Alvie Taco, alias “Toto”, 42, and Joseph Sapu-an, 22.

The police said that Taco is suspected to be a member of the Bugalon Drug Gang and a top priority on both provincial and city drug watchlists. 

Recovered from the suspects were 20 grams of suspected shabu with a street drug price of P136,000 and two firearms.

De Chavez highlighted the importance of the “Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting” as a symbol of valor for officers who risk their lives in the fight against crime.  

He also turned over financial assistance  to the  injured policeman from  BGen. Jack Wanky, police regional director.*
