Ilog now under Alert Level 1 along with Bacolod, 11 LGUs

Ilog town in Negros Occidental has been deescalated to Alert Level 1, the Department of Health announced Tuesday, July 19.

Ilog joins Bacolod City and 11 other local government units in Negros Occidental that will remain under Alert Level 1 until July 31.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued a directive to retain the COVID-19 Alert Level System for now.

Ilog was deescalated to Alert Level 1 because it is nearing the COVID-19 vaccination thresholds for its target general population and the senior citizen priority group, the DOH said.

The 11 other LGUs under Alert Level 1 in Negros Occidental are Cadiz City, Candoni, Talisay City,  Victorias City,  EB Magalona, La Carlota City, Pontevedra, Pulupandan, Sagay City, San Enrique and Valladolid.

The rest of Negros Occidental remains under Alert Level 2.

Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, said despite the COVID-19 vaccination house-to-house campaigns and incentives there has been a slow increase in Negros Occidental’s drive.

Kabankalan, Bago and San Carlos cities still have a lot of residents who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19, he said.

They have a long way to go to hit their vaccination targets, he added.

The Department of Health on Monday, July 18, reported that Negros Occidental has vaccinated 65.42 percent of its target population  and 59.67 percent of its senior citizen target, making it the lowest performer in Western Visayas.*
