Mayor Javier Miguel “Javi” Benitez said on Wednesday, October 26, that the proliferation of illegal drugs in Victorias City will not be tolerated, the guilty must be penalized.

The mayor issued the statement following the arrest of a couple in Victorias City from whom P1.3 million worth of suspected shabu was recovered during a buy-bust operation at Yapquiña Subdivision in Brgy. 3 on Tuesday, October 25, the police said.

Nabbed was Denmark Liscano, 26, who was said to be a high-value individual, and Marijo Acuña, 37.

They allegedly sold two plastic sachets of drugs worth P25,000 to a police poseur buyer.

Upon their arrest, they yielded 200 grams of shabu worth P1.360 million, an improvised homemade shotgun with two live ammunition, two cellphones, P1,200 cash proceeds, a coin purse, pouch, , blade knife, and other items.

The suspects are now in police custody, facing drug charges.

Benitez, in his statement Wednesday, said: “We’ve been moving forward to promote a drug-free Victorias City throughout our first few months in the office. We had been urging the general public to prohibit the use of any illegal drugs through various means and projects with the help of our law enforcement agencies.”

He said that he strongly condemns the proliferation of illegal drugs in the community and does
not tolerate such detestable acts because he wants to protect Victorias from “such abominable menace.”

“We condemn any unlawful activity, and we will not tolerate individuals who committed against the mandate of our laws whoever it may be,” he added.

He also said he will let the proper authorities further investigate and incarcerate those
who are subject to felonies.

“Without any bias or and with no influence from anyone, justice should be served, and whoever is guilty must be penalized according to the rule of law. We will continue being relentless in our advocacy for a drug-free community and make the city a safer and better place to live in,” the mayor said.
