Hundreds benefit from Rotary medical, surgical mission in Binalbagan

Hundreds flock to the barangay gym to avail of free consultation, surgery and medicines.*

More than 200 residents of Barangay San Juan in Binalbagan town, Negros Occidental, availed of free medical consultations, medicines and minor surgeries in a mission initiated by the Rotary Club of Bacolod Central.

The mission was led by Dr. Enigardo Legislador, Rotary District 3850 Past District Governor, who performed the minor surgeries with Dr. Larry Fregil.

They were joined by doctors Kristine Angeli and Charles Adrian Legislador, Gian Carlo Coruña, Fair Jacildo and Dr. Ena Sion.

The initiative was also supported by Rep. Emilio Yulo III (Neg. Occ., 5th District), the barangay council led by village chief Vincent Aguillon, Metro.

Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Negros Economic Development Foundation who distributed packs of rice.

Past President Juliana Carbon also took the opportunity to gather the children and their mothers to campaign for proper hand washing and personal hygiene.

The mission is the club’s first health project under the leadership of president Rolem Basiya. It was also partly funded by the Rotary Clubs of Madison South and Madison After Hours of RI District 6250 in Wisconsin, USA, Nepal Sales and MtZion Pharma.

Counterparts from the Rotary Club of Binalbagan East, led by president Rael Lopez, also joined the activity by providing free hot meals to the beneficiaries.*
