Human skeletal remains were discovered during excavation work in Purok Tumpok near Costa Verde Subdivision in Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Monday afternoon, Dec. 22.
Police said a concerned citizen reported to the Talisay City police at around 2 p.m. Monday the discovery of what appeared to be a human bone inside a sack at the site.
The area was undergoing land development for a new subdivision when a backhoe accidentally unearthed a wrapped sack, the police said.
The caretaker of Costa Verde Subdivision inspected the sack and found suspected human skeletal remains inside.
Responding police officers secured the area and coordinated with the investigator-on-case to document the scene.
The recovered skeletal remains were brought to a funeral home in Manapla for proper custody and forensic examination.
The police said an investigation is ongoing to determine the identity of the remains and the circumstances surrounding the discovery.*
