Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr. led the turnover of housing units to 146 families from six barangays during a ceremony at the Taliambong Activity Center in Sagay City, Tuesday, May 30.
Javelosa said the housing project was started by previous administrations and he vowed to expedite the distribution of at least 150 housing units to indigent Sagaynons a month, a press release from Sagay said Wednesday.
“What I ask from you is to take care of these houses and ensure cleanliness, peace and order in your neighborhood”, Javelosa told the beneficiaries.
The 146 housing units distributed are at the Old Sagay Site in Brgy. Old Sagay – 72, Paraiso Heights in Brgy. Paraiso – 62, and Pueblo del Mar in Brgy. Rafaela Barrera -12, National Housing Authority (NHA) records showed.
The beneficiaries are from barangays Old Sagay, Taba-ao, Himogaan Baybay, Paraiso, Malubon, and Rafaela Barrera.
Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva, councilors Sherwin Sy, Perfecto Marañon, Felisa Dela Cruz, Ching Javellana, and Lura Javelosa, and City Administrator Ryan Bonghanoy also attended the program.
The event was spearheaded by NHA officials and staff in Sagay City.
The mayor said they already distributed about 400 housing units in his first term as a mayor and with the help of NHA and City Administrator’s Office, they hope to process the applications faster.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva said that this housing project is for every family and for their kids to have a better living situation.
“This is our dream to provide everyone decent housing and we hope that you help in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the communities”, Cueva said.*
