Mayor Raymund Tongson celebrated his 51st birthday on Oct. 20 by giving cash incentives and birthday cakes to senior citizens this month.

A total 890 senior citizens from 19 barangays received cakes and groceries courtesy of the City Mayor’s Office and the City Social Welfare and Development Office earlier this month, which were also part of the Elderly Filipino Week celebration, a press release said.

Centenarian Aurora Cuevas of Brgy. 4 Poblacion, who celebrated her 100th birthday in September, is set to receive P300,000 from the LGU, regional and national governments.

The Himamaylan LGU, through the CSWDO, awarded P100,000 to Cuevas last week.

Tongson also led the awarding of P20,000 each to nonagenarians Renato Mapus, Cholita Cruz and Olympia Sausa, who also received cakes and groceries.

“My 51st birthday is not just a personal celebration, it is also my way of renewing my passion for service to my fellow Himamaylanons,” Tongson said in the press release.*
