During this year’s MassKara Festival, the Volkswagen Club of Bacolod once again rolled out VolksKara 2026, a cultural showcase that blended motoring heritage with the city’s world‑famous celebration of life and community
The club’s lineup of classic, air‑cooled Volkswagens was recently displayed at the SM City Bacolod Northwing, where festival‑goers enjoyed seeing these iconic vehicles up close. Smooth acoustic sessions and live DJ sets kept the energy flowing all afternoon, making the exhibit a lively stop for families and friends.
Far more than a car show, VolksKara 2026 was organized as a dedicated cultural and heritage advocacy project. The Volkswagen Club of Bacolod honored the automobile not merely as a machine of utility, but as an enduring symbol of evolution, community identity and artistic expression across generations. By preserving these vehicles, the club preserved both the tangible history of craftsmanship and the intangible spirit of the eras they defined.
On his second term as president, Atty. and Dr. Carlos B. Legislador – popularly known as ‘Doc CBL’ – successfully led the club in its annual partnership with SM Bacolod. Under his stewardship, the exhibit has become a fixture of the MassKara Festival, inspiring audiences and encouraging future collectors.
The Volkswagen Club’s long collaboration with artists and cultural groups such as Bacolod Arts, Cultural and Heritage Inc., headed by Sandy Solinap, and with cultural visionaries and institutions like SM Bacolod, ensured that creativity and heritage unfolded together. The exhibit advocated for heritage preservation while engaging larger audiences during the festival.
Adding star power to the event, celebrity Dominic Ochoa – himself an avid car collector and proud owner of a 1302S Convertible Beetle – was spotted at the exhibit as an honored guest of SM Bacolod’s AWESM Bacolod 2026 activities.*
