Guv visits youth vegetable farm in Manapla

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson visited the vegetable farm of the Myrrianne Youth Farmers Organization (MYFO) at Hacienda Myrianne in Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla, Wednesday, March 17.

It is a recipient of the provincial government’s Solar Irrigation Project worth P6.9 million with an estimated serviceable area of 30 – 50 hectares, a press release from the Capitol said.
Construction started in September. It is now 90 percent complete and scheduled for inauguration next month.

Lacson was welcomed by Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante III, San Pablo Barangay Captain Josefa Cabayao, Municipal Agriculturist Alejandro Malijoc, and young farmers led by MYFO Chairman, Jison dela Cruz.

The governor said that he is happy to see children who are very much interested and engaged in agriculture.

He also assured them of more agricultural support and projects from the provincial government.

The group plants vegetables and other high value crops in a 600-square meter farm, which is also proposed as one of the agri-tourism destinations in the town.

The farm is one of the Abanse Negrense Farm Youth Vegetable Gardens and High Value Crops Farm Areas in the province.

The organization was organized in 2018 and was awarded second prize in Innovative Technology during the Search for the Most Outstanding Young Farmer Organization (4H Club) of Negros Occidental in December 2020.*
