Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson told the newly-elected Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan officials (BSKOs) from 22 villages in Cadiz City to “serve with integrity, and have a solemn commitment to represent the voice of the people.”

Lacson and Rep. Alfredo Marañon III (Neg. Occ., 2nd District) were the guests of honor at the mass oathtaking of Cadiz BSKOs held at the Cadiz Arena Friday, Nov. 17.

Lacson and Marañon swore in the barangay and SK chairmen, respectively, a press release from Cadiz City said.

Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. administered the oath of office of all the
barangay and SK kagawads.

Lacson said that as BSKOs, they should serve fellow Negrenses not just with dedication and sense of duty, but also with integrity.

“Starting today, please, perform”, the mayor also said.

He asked the newly-inducted BSKOs to take good care of the trust and confidence given to them by the people who voted them into office.

Marañon also reminded the Cadiz BSKOs not to just serve, but to also lead with integrity, transparency and inclusivity.

“Serve to the best of your ability, and I will support your or our vision for the 2nd District and/or for the entire province,” the solon said.

Department of Interior Local Government (DILG)-Cadiz City head, Shalimar Nicor, reminded the BSKOs that “public office is a public trust.”*
