Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson on Sunday, August 7, stressed the need for organizations of local government officials to focus on good governance.
“Good governance is our contribution to nation building,“ he said.
The programs of the provincial government are geared towards good governance, Lacson added.
The officers of the Negros Association of Chief Executives led by Victorias Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Negros Occidental chapter headed by Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Antonio Peña, and the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines – Negros Occidental chapter led by Pulupandan Vice Mayor Anthony Gerard Suatengco recently held their elections.
Love Negros and the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) have agreed to field La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio as president of the Philippine Councilors League-Negros Occidental chapter during the PCL election on August 22.
Lacson said the merger and registration of Love Negros and UNegA as one political party before the Commission on Elections is not being discussed.
“I am not in that mindset for now, and the coalition is working,” he said.
