Guv okays meet with Bacolod to harmonize travel guidelines

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has agreed to the request of Mayor Evelio Leonardia to hold a virtual meeting to discuss and harmonize travel guidelines between the Negros Occidental and Bacolod City governments.

Lacson in a letter to Leonardia Wednesday, January 26, said that the provincial government welcomes such development and invites the mayor of Bacolod to join a virtual meeting via Zoom 3 p.m. Friday, January 28.

This regular consultation meeting will also be attended by all local chief executives of Negros Occidental, Lacson said.

Bacolod is a highly urbanized city that is not under the jurisdiction of the provincial government.

The proposal of Bacolod City to gain access to the Provincial One Hospital Command System, will also be discussed during the virtual meeting, if Leonardia agrees to attend.

The provincial government is continuing to require inbound travelers from areas under Alert Level 3 to submit negative RT-PCR test results prior to entry into the province but will take into consideration the request of Leonardia, Lacson said.

Leonardia is proposing that inbound passengers from Manila be allowed to take Rapid Antigen tests instead of RT-PCR tests within 24 hours prior to their arrival.*
