Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson called on the members of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Negros Occidental Federation to be exemplars of discipline and adherence to COVID-19 health protocols to inspire other Negrenses to do the same.

Lacson issued the call in his speech at the PCL Week rites at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City Friday, September 3.

The theme of the celebration is “2021 PCL Week: Unified towards strengthening COVID-19 pandemic response.”

“The course of action we are going to take, which on your part involves the swift and timely crafting and passing of ordinances and resolutions to answer the different needs of your LGU (local government units), including COVID-19 responses, shall determine your future,” Lacson said.

PCL president Ryan Gamboa and Lacson on Friday also signed a Memorandum of Agreement wherein the provincial government will provide P1 million for the PCL priority projects this year.

Gamboa, in his speech, said in the light of the existing health crisis PCL has distributed alcohol, face shields and masks, and medicines to the various LGUs.

The PCL Negros Occidental, though the Provincial Special Project Allocation, has also provided jetmatic pumps, monoblocks, rice, electric fans and food to LGUs whose councilors requested for them, he said.*
