Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has asked the members of the Negros Association of Chief Executives (Negros ACE) to come up with their position on the One Hospital Command (OHC) amid complaints raised.

The OHC is a centralized system designed to streamline patient referrals and optimize healthcare delivery, especially during emergencies.

The governor asked the mayors for their assessment of the OHC and to come up with their recommendations, Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Negros ACE president, said on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

The governor made the request during the recent Negros ACE Christmas party amid complaints regarding delays in the referral system, Escalante said.

“People have died because of the delays. When patients are brought to hospitals they have to wait in tricycles or ambulances until referrals are cleared,” the mayor said

The governor wants a review to address the problem of the delays in referrals, Escalante said.

The OHC has some good points and needs to be fine-tuned, the mayor said.

He said to address the problem of the delay of patients being admitted, Cadiz City is building its own 50-bed hospital that could be completed by next year.*
