
The police arrested an alleged gunrunner and seized four firearms at Aquiles Zayco Street, Brgy. 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, recently.
The suspect, identified only as “Emar, 35, a resident of Ilog, Negros Occidental, was caught while allegedly selling the firearms to a police poseur buyer on Sept. 6.
Recovered from him were a .30 caliber Garand rifle, a 5.6 caliber revolver, and two .38 caliber revolvers.
The operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Bacolod City Field Unit.
Emar has alleged links to gunrunning activities in Negros Occidental, the CIDG-Negros Island Region reported on Saturday, Sep. 13.
He is now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
CIDG acting director MGen. Robert Morico II said the confiscation removed from circulation instruments of killing and significantly preventing crimes.
