Following extensive tree-pruning and landscaping efforts, Mayor Greg Gasataya on Thursday, July 10, reiterated his commitment to transforming the Bacolod Public Plaza into a cleaner, greener, and safer haven for city residents.

The ongoing revitalization project aims to elevate the plaza’s appeal and functionality, ensuring it remains a cherished community space, he said in a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office (BCCO).

Gasataya expressed his satisfaction with the initial results, highlighting the “improved air circulation and sparkling evening lighting” that now make the plaza even more inviting for visitors.

The BCCO said the cleanup initiative is far from over, with several key improvements on the horizon:
• Vibrant Makeover: Benches and other plaza fixtures are slated to receive a fresh coat of paint, adding a renewed vibrancy to the area.
• Restored Beauty: The plaza’s iconic central structure will undergo necessary repairs to restore its grandeur.
• Spotless Facilities: Public comfort rooms will benefit from regular cleaning and maintenance, ensuring hygienic and pleasant conditions for all.

Major structural repairs have been temporarily put on hold as the city awaits crucial funding support from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), the press release said.

Demonstrating his commitment to inclusive governance, Gasataya recently met with plaza vendors to discuss new regulations, the BCCO press release said.

These measures are designed to maintain the area’s cleanliness, enhance safety, and improve overall organization, ensuring the Bacolod Public Plaza remains a family-friendly destination for everyone to enjoy, the BCCO said.*
