GP presents top priorities, caravan, opening rally set

Grupo Progreso (GP) led by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia presented its platform of government for 2022 to 2025 at a press conference in Bacolod City on Thursday, March 24.

Its three-pronged program includes health and social services, economy and infrastructure, and a Smart City framework for local governance.

Leonardia said their vision is for Bacolod City “to further develop into a more livable, vibrant and resilient city where business and industry shall flourish in a climate of peace and fair competition”.

Combating Covid-19 will continue to be their top priority, the GP platform of government said.

It is their immediate and long-term plan to build a Medical Complex that will house the new City Health Office, which will have a dialysis center, clinics, birthing facility, physical therapy center, essential medical laboratories and other health facilities, it said.

The construction of a city hospital within this medical complex is also already in the pipeline for implementation by the national government, it added.

Their immediate thrust is economic recovery and to sustain the city’s growth momentum, the GP team also said.

GP’s candidate for congressman is businessman Daniel Atayde and seeking reelection is Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.

Its candidates for councilor are Em Ang, Archie Baribar, Jonathan Diaz, Ed Guillem, Carl Lopez, Cashmier Montalvo, Renecito Novero, Dindo Ramos, Cindy Rojas, Israel Salanga, Marlon Solidum and Chris Sorongon.

The GP candidates are set to join a mass at the Lupit Church at 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, to be followed by a caravan that will end at the Pope John Paul II Tower where a program will be held.

They will hold their opening salvo rally at the Bacolod Public Plaza on Saturday, March 26, that will showcase local musical and cultural talents.*
