Governor signs MOA for student internships

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with various schools and universities for a Student Internship Program with the Negros Occidental provincial government at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City on Friday, May 26.

“This has been an ongoing program, our colleges and universities have requested if their students can join the province as interns, “ he said.

“The provincial government is seriously looking at the possibility of actually hiring them, especially the good ones. We would like to have the best for the province of Negros Occidental”, he said.

The schools who joined the ceremonial signing were the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod, STI-West Negros University, Bacolod City College, Carlos Hilado Memorial State University, University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos, Central Philippines State University, and Sum-ag National High School.

Lacson advised the student-interns to take full advantage of the chance to learn, grow, and acquire valuable opportunities to gain practical experience and bridge the gap between the academe and the actual workplace.

“Your internship training will not only provide a platform to apply your knowledge but also expose you to new perspectives and will be a factor in shaping you into well-rounded professionals,” he said.

The governor also thanked the partners in the academe for their commitment and support in guiding the students to become successful professionals and responsible members of the community.

The Capitol Internship Program is facilitated by the Provincial Human Resource Management Office.*
