Governor orders another ban on birds from Luzon, Mindanao

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has orddered another temporary ban on the entry into Negros Occidental of all live domestic and wild birds and their products from Luzon, Mindanao and areas reported with avian influenza.

Lacson, in Executive Order No 22-15, Series of 2022, issued Wednesday, April 13, said the extended ban will commence at 12 a.m. of April 15 and will remain valid until recalled.

The ban includes day old chicks, eggs, semen and manure from areas with highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Lacson pointed out that on March 2022 avian influenza H5N1 strain was detected in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, and as of April 6 spread to Benguet, Bataan, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac in Luzon, and Davao del Sur and North and South Cotabato in Mindanao.,

Lacson on February 29 also ordered a similar temporary ban on the entry of all live domestic and wild birds and their products from avian influenza-hit areas into Negros Occidental until March 15.*
