Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson urged the members of Capitol Government Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (CAPGEM) to navigate the positive effects of digitalization to achieve the cooperative’s objectives during their 33rd General Membership Assembly at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City on Tuesday, April 9.

Lacson, in his speech, said that the general assembly’s theme “Positioning CAPGEM in a Digital Economy” reflects the cooperatives aim to be more responsive and adaptive to the demands of the times.

“The increasing digitalization has brought about changes in people’s work habits and purchasing behaviors, as well as in the way we participate in our community”, the governor said.

“This transformation accelerates growth by providing new opportunities not just in conducting business, but also in sharing information and engaging people”, he added.

Lacson said that digital transformation is in everyone’s midst, and as a big and growing cooperative, CAPGEM must be able to navigate well and capitalize on the positive effects of digitalization.

“To the new set of officers, you are the key instruments in setting the direction of CAPGEM, and the success of CAPGEM largely depends on your leadership and dedication,” he said.

The governor also said he hopes CAPGEM will continue to provide access to capital, training, and resources for the empowerment of all its members.*
