GCash offers stock investing access to Bacolod, Negros residents for as low as P500

Residents of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental looking to invest in Philippine-listed companies can start with as low as P500 through GStocks PH within the GCash app, the company said.

The platform, powered by brokerage firm AB Capital Securities, Inc. (ABSCI), allows users to buy shares without a bank account.

Users must be at least 18 years old and have a fully verified GCash account, a valid ID, and an email address to register.

In a press release, GCash said GStocks PH serves more than 2 million users nationwide, accounting for more than 50 percent of online retail stock market accounts with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

The platform provides access to more than 280 PSE-listed companies.

GCash general manager for wealth management Darwin Sy Su said the service forms part of the company’s efforts to make investing more accessible to Filipinos.

GCash said it is also prioritizing financial literacy to help users, particularly newcomers to digital finance, make informed investment decisions.

Available resources include curated stock lists, financial insights from Pera Coach, its artificial intelligence financial assistant, and discussions through the GInvest Facebook Community.

Users can transfer funds between their GCash and ABSCI trading wallets with no transfer fees, the company said.

GStocks PH also provides access to initial public offerings and follow-on share sales, with an “IPO Meter” showing remaining shares in real time.

Residents interested in registering can open the Grow tab in the GCash app, select GStocks PH, choose ABSCI, and confirm their personal information. Once approved, they can fund their trading wallet and submit stock purchase orders.

The company reminded prospective investors that stock market investments carry risks and that past performance does not guarantee future returns. It encouraged users to conduct their own research before making investment decisions.*
