Bacolod Rep. Greg Gastaya has filed House Resolution 1412 expressing congratulations and commendation of the House of Representatives to Dr. Patrick Joseph Mabugat for ranking second in the 2020 Physician Licensure Examination.

Mabugat, 26, a University of St. La Salle student made it to second place with a rating of 88.58 percent.

A resident of Bacolod City, Mabugat serves as an inspiration not only to the Bacolodnon youth but also to millions of Filipinos across the country with his hardwork and dedication made evident by his topping two professional licensure examinations, Gasataya said.

A consistent honor student, Mabugat also was ranked No. 1 in the 2014 Medical Technologist Licensure Examination with a score of 90.9 percent, Gasataya said.

Mabugat is the eldest of four sons of Col. Calixto Mabugat, Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service chief of staff at Camp Crame, and Arlene Amunategui Mabugat.

Mabugat, who graduated valedictorian from the USLS College of Medicine, said he studied to become a doctor because he wants to help people.

“To offer almost 24/7 of your time to help others and see them get well will mean the whole world to me,” he said.

He will do his residency in Bacolod and is looking into specializing in internal medicine or general surgery.*
