Silay Mayor Joedith Gallego said on Tuesday, May 28, that his running mate in the 2025 midterm elections will be Vice Mayor Thomas Maynard Ledesma.
Gallego is a member of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, while Ledesma ran under the Asenso Silay ticket in 2022.
Gallego said he already has eight candidates for councilors, four of whom are incumbents.
Ledesma also said there is a big possibility that he will be the running mate of Gallego.
Gallego said he has no comment on the announcement that former mayor Mark Golez will be challenging him for the mayorship in 2025, with Councilor Ryan Gamboa as his running mate.
Rep. Francisco Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) and Rep. Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod Partylist) endorsed the Golez-Gamboa tandem as the Asenso Silay bets for 2025 before the barangay captains of Silay on Sunday.
Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, United Negros Alliance president, said UNegA will support the Golez-Gamboa tandem.
Golez and Gamboa are members of Love Negros that has an alliance with UNegA, he pointed out.*
