Gallaga YouTube channel goes live Wednesday

The Peque Gallaga YouTube channel will go live starting noon Wednesday, May 5.

The channel aims to be a vehicle for remembering and celebrating the works of Gallaga and hopefully become a discussion platform of his contributions to art, film development and nation building, Eli Tajanglangit, a member of the Busalian group, said.

It is a group composed of friends of Gallaga who have come together to promote his work.

“Tribute to Peque,” a short film by director Lore Reyes will be the first feature of the channel. It is part of the activities marking the first death anniversary of the acclaimed Negrense filmmaker on Friday, May 7.

Also in the initial line-up in the channel is a tribute from the Maskara Theatre Ensemble of the University of St La Salle whose members act out some of the characters in Gallaga’s films, Tajanlangit said.

Aside from the YouTube channel, there is also the Facebook page “Peque Gallaga: Bugal sang Banwa, Twitter account @pqbusalian and Instagram, @busalian, he added.

Those who want to contribute to the platforms can email materials to pqbusalian@gmail.com, Tajanlangit said.

The platforms will be dedicated to the works of Gallaga and their relevance to nation building.

Lore Reyes’ short film features the landmark works of Gallaga. Among the film excerpts are from Oro, Plata Mata, Scorpio Nights, Virgin Forest, Isang araw Walang Diyos, Magic Temple, Magic Kingdom and the Manananggal episode of the first Shake Rattle and Roll.
