Frontliners registration for vaccines fast-tracked

The Provincial Incident Management Team is fast tracking the registration of frontliners in Negros Occidental for COVID-19 vaccines, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said today, February 10.

The list of frontliners who are the first priority for vaccination has to be submitted on or before February 15, Diaz said.

Their names are needed so they can be covered when the initial vaccines from the World Health Organization arrive, he said.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has asked for 3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for 1.5 million Negros Occidental residents from the national government, Diaz said earlier.

The 1.5 million Negrenses represent 70 percent of the province’s population whom the national government has promised to provide free COVID-19 vaccines, Diaz said.

However, the vaccines are expected to arrive in phases, with priority to be given to frontliners and senior citizens. *
