A Negrense who just graduated from college drowned in the Malogo River at Banilad 3, Brgy. Nanca, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, on Friday, June 21.
Renz Llorente, 24, drowned after he was carried by strong current at about 1:30 p.m., the police reported.
The victim and his friends were celebrating after their college graduation when the incident occurred.
He was the first degree holder in his family after he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration degree from the Silay Institute Inc. on June 19, a post on his Facebook page after his graduation said.
Llorente, in the post, thanked his parents for their sacrifices and love that enabled him to obtain a college degree, and told them that he loved them.
The victim was brought to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City but was declared dead on arrival.*
