About 50 residents of Bacolod City availed of the free legal services from members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines- Negros Occidental chapter to mark the celebration of the Law Day Sunday, September 19.
The lawyers were joined by the members of the Rotary Club of Bacolod Central and the United Architects of the Philippines-Bacolod Azucar during the Libre Konsulta Legal program held at the SM City Bacolod.
RCB Central president Floressa May Castro, IBP chapter president Josephine Natalaray and UAP chapter president Rolem Basiya led the group in the ceremonial lighting of candles to symbolize peace and unity.
Natalaray said the free legal clinic is a regular program of IBP but this time, their group linked up with Rotary and UAP to expand the project.
The free legal clinic comes at a very opportune time for our beneficiaries, especially because we are facing economic difficulties because of the pandemic, Basiya said.
Castro, on the other hand, said the club is fortunate to have collaborated with IBP and UAP. She believed that the clinic is our group’s contribution to nation building as such program promotes peace and conflict resolution.*
