Four fires hit Bacolod, close to 200 affected

Four fires in a span of five days hit 21 houses in Bacolod City affecting 59 families with close to 200 members during the holidays, Alma Gustilo, officer-in-charge of the Department of Social Services and Development, said Wednesday, Dec. 27.

One house was destroyed in Purok Malvar Cubay, Barangay Villamonte, at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday.

Destroyed was the house of Harish Estrada with damage estimated at P36,000, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bacolod reported.

DECEMBER 26
A fire also destroyed seven houses and damaged six at Mabini-Luzuriaga streets, Purok Paghidaet, Bry 29, 5:07 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, the BFP Bacolod reported.

The BFP said the fire originated from the house of Marites Logronio that was being repaired. The fire started from an electrical wire that began to spark, Christian Logronio, said.

His mother is undergoing dialysis while his father was hospitalized before the fire, he said.

The fire left 39 families with 141 individuals homeless while Barangay 29 was celebrating its fiesta.

The BFP placed the damage at P1.8 million.

DECEMBER 25
At 12:01 p.m. on Dec. 25 fire damaged the house of Noefe B. Alonsabe Sr., 38, at Gloria Street, Hervias Dos Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

Damage was place at P180,000, the BFP said.

DECEMBER 23
Fire destroyed five houses and damaged one at Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1, Bacolod City, 6:38 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, the BFP also reported.

Damage was placed at P100,000.

The Bacolod City government has provided assistance to the fire victims. *
