The 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion, 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, in partnership with the Department of Education has facilitated the enrollment of nine former rebels in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) at Camp Tirambulo, Brgy McKinley, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, an Army press release said today, January 31.
ALS is one of the alternative ways of learning for those who have had no formal education, and serves as their edge to find better opportunities in the future, the press release said.
The former rebels will undergo 10 months of basic learning and will have to pass the ALS Accreditation and Equivalency Test for them to qualify for a higher level of education and for any job opportunities, it added.
The activity is one of the programs of the Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, so that the former rebels will become more productive members of the society, the press release said.*
