Former Lin-ay sang Negros, husband donate library

Schoolchildren at the La Castellana Elementary School (LCES) will have a new library to visit when face-to-face classes reopen.

Former Lin-ay sang Negros Vi-Anne Cadianza and husband, Alex Calipusan, recently turned over the library to school officials through Vi-Anne’s parents, Eva and Wilfredo Cadianza.

The Calipusan couple who live in Las Vegas, USA, have set up set-up Uplift Foundation International to serve as a conduit for their give-back projects in their hometowns.

Vi-Anne is from La Castellana and an alumna of LCES, while Alex comes from the political Calipusan family in Loboc, Bohol.
In a message read by Vi-Anne’s father, Wildredo, for her, she said they are humbled by the opportunity to contribute to her hometown.

“Through reading we open the world of imagination. It is our hope and prayer that this library will ignite the dreams and aspirations of the students. With God’s grace, believe in yourselves and dare to dream big,” the message read.

Vi-Anne also reminded the teachers of their roles in nurturing their students, particularly during this time of pandemic.

“You are gifts to your pupils. Teach them to understand the message these books bring and may you continue to be an inspiration to the children of La Castellana”, she said.

The library project was inaugurated in the presence of LCES heads Cayetano Malabug and Shirley Marquez.*
