Former La Castellana councilor linked to recruitment scam surrenders

Former La Castellana Sangguniang Bayan member Donato “Natnat” Dumaguit, who is facing charges for alleged involvement in a recruitment scam, surrendered to the police on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

La Castellana Police Chief, Maj. Rhojn Nigos, said that the former councilor surrendered to the police on the same day as his arraignment on Wednesday.

Dumaguit posted P220,000 in bail for 12 counts of estafa, however, he was still detained at the police station as he was served a warrant of arrest for another 11 counts of estafa.

Dumaguit was expelled from his post in December 2023 after a series of unexplained absences from the La Castellana SB sessions.

He was implicated in a multi-million peso PNP recruitment scam last year.

Earlier, Mary June Delos Santos, who was tagged as the mastermind of the alleged recruitment scam, was arrested.

Forty-three complaints have been filed against them for the alleged recruitment of unqualified PNP applicants for fees ranging from P200,000 to P300,000.*
