An elderly fisherman was found dead in the river at Zone 1, Villa Miranda, Brgy. 6-A, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday morning, August 26.
Police reports showed that the victim, 67, whose name was withheld by authorities, and a resident of the same barangay, was last seen by his wife around 3 a.m. while on his way to their motorized banca to prepare for fishing.
She later searched for him but could no longer find him.
At around 7 a.m., a witness about to board his own boat saw a body floating in the river. When he checked, he confirmed it was the victim and sought help from authorities.
Police said the body bore no signs of violence or physical injuries.
The fisherman was brought to the Victorias Emergency Clinic Hospital, where he was declared dead by the attending physician.
