Fire hits Isabela municipal hall, leaves P100K in damages

A fire hit the Mayor’s Office at the Isabela municipal hall on Thursday, April 7.*

A late afternoon fire razed the Mayor’s Office at the Isabela municipal hall at Borromeo Street, Barangay 4, Isabela, Negros Occidental, Thursday, April 7.

Mayor Irene Montilla said the incident occurred past 5 p.m. so the offices were already closed and no one was hurt.

It was fortunate that somebody immediately noticed the fire and was able to call for help, she said, adding that teams from the local disaster office and the fire station were able to deploy to the area.

She added that the fire station from Binalbagan also responded to the incident.

The mayor said, according to fire probers, the fire emanated from faulty wiring from the ceiling of her office, which could have sparked due to a power surge following an outage.

FO2 Henry Cosas Jr., Municipal Fire Station investigator, said the damage of the fire was pegged at P100,000.
