Negros Occidental Acting Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer said it is too early to speculate that presidential son William Vincent “Vinny” Marcos will run for congressman of Bacolod City in the next election, and he has not heard him mention any such plan.
Ferrer was reacting to rumors that the presidential son will run for congressman of Bacolod when a second congressional district is created.
He does not know where talk that Marcos will run for congressman of Bacolod City came from and the presidential son may not even know about it, Ferrer said.
The elections were just over, 2025 is a long way off, Ferrer, a close friend and supporter of the Marcoses, said.
Ferrer said he has not heard the presidential son mention any plan to run in Bacolod City.
But the acting governor said he cannot speak for the presidential son who has a right to run for the post of his choice.
Keep an eye on whether there is a transfer of residency before the next polls, Ferrer said.
Bacolod has a lone congressional district.
Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya has filed a bill seeking the creation of a second congressional district for the city.
Ferrer also said he does not know yet what post he will run for in the next elections.
He is on his second term as vice governor of Negros Occidental while his wife, Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer, is on he her last term as congresswoman of the fourth district.*
