FBI hunting for ‘Bago’ caregiver facing child sexual abuse raps

A caregiver who is believed to be from Bago City, Negros Occidental, is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

An FBI wanted poster posted on its website said Edgardo Feralin Dormido Jr., 48, is wanted for allegedly molesting two children in their home at Manhattan Beach, California, where he worked as a caregiver.

“Federal prosecutors have been unable to locate him in the Philippines, though they believe he is working as a janitor at Bago City College (BCC) in Bago City,” the Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday, March 1.

The FBI said it released his photos on Wednesday in the hope that the public may help locate Dormido in the Philippines, the Los Angeles Times added.

BCC Administrator Deborah Singson, on Friday, February, 3 denied that Dormido had worked as a janitor of the college.

Bago Mayor Nicholas Yulo said he has not been contacted by the law enforcement authorities about the matter. Dormido is a common name in Bacolod and he will look into the matter, he added.

It is believed that Dormido is currently residing in the Philippines, the FBI added.

On Oct. 9, 2015, Dormido Jr. was charged in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles with five counts of alleged child sexual molestation, the FBI said

On June 22, 2022, he was also charged federally with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution by the United States District Court, Central District of California, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.

The FBI said if anyone has any information concerning the person, to contact the FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.

According to prosecutors he was charged in 2015 three months after two 9-year-old girls told their mother that Dormido had inappropriately touched them on numerous occasions over the course of more than a year, the Los Angeles Times also reported.*
