A 49-year-old laborer was seriously injured after he was hacked by his 18-year-old son in Sitio Mambalayong, Brgy. Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday night, November 15.
Police said the victim, identified only as Rodolfo, was on his way home after drinking at his cousin’s house when he saw his wife and two sons waiting by the roadside.
When the victim entered his house, the suspect, identified as alias “Rud”, suddenly struck him in the mouth with a sugarcane cutter.
The victim fell to the ground, and the suspect reportedly hit him again on the back of the head, shoulder, and back.
The victim’s wife and another son were able to restrain the suspect long enough for the victim to escape and seek help at a relative’s house.
His niece later brought him to the Governor Valeriano M. Gatuslao Hospital, where he received initial treatment before being referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
The suspect fled after the attack and remains at large.
Police have interviewed the victim and are preparing charges against the son.*
