‘Father, 4 sons surrender after killing senior citizen’

A father and his four sons surrendered to the police on Tuesday, October 31, after killing a senior citizen in Sitio Pormento, Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, the police reported.

Maj. John Ganzon, Escalante police chief, told DIGICAST NEGROS inquest proceedings were conducted Tuesday.

The five suspects had a heated argument with the victim’s son on Saturday, resulting in the hacking that caused the death of the 71-year-old man, the police reported.

The suspects include a 60-year-old man and his four sons, whose names were withheld by the police.

Investigation showed that during the heated argument, one of the suspects threatened to kill the victim’s son prompting him to run towards their house.

Upon reaching the house, the victim attempted to rescue his son but he was stoned by the four other suspects resulting in his falling on the ground.

One of the suspects then stabbed the defenseless victim hitting different parts of his body that caused his death, the police reported.

The victim’s son also said that he saw one of the suspects draw his improvised Indian slingshot or “Indian Target” and shot the victim’s neck.

The police said that the victim’s family will file murder charges against the suspects.*
