A 39-year-old farmer was shot dead by his stepson following an argument inside their home in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, Wednesday morning, May 6.
The police identified the victim as a resident of Purok Kapehan, Brgy. Bunga, while the suspect, identified only as alias “Jay-R,” 21, was arrested after the incident.
Initial investigation by the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station showed the suspect was drinking coffee inside their house when the victim arrived and a heated argument suddenly broke out between them at around 10:30 a.m.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly took an improvised 12-gauge shotgun or “sulpak” and shot the victim, hitting him in the forehead and left hip.
The victim sustained fatal injuries and was rushed by the Barangay Bunga Rescue Team to the Don Salvador Benedicto Rural Health Unit, where he was declared dead by the attending physician.
The suspect was taken into police custody.*
