Reelected Bacolod Vice Mayor El Cid Familiarian said on Monday, May 16, that he is prepared to work with newly elected mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez.
“I can work with anybody as long as it is for the good of the people of Bacolod,” he said.
Familiaran ran for vice mayor with defeated Mayor Evelio Leonardia of Grupo Progreso.
Eight of the 12 newly-elected Bacolod City councilors are from the Benitez-led Team Asenso.
The vice mayor said he will give responsibilities to the young newly elected councilors to train them for the future.
The new officials will assume their posts at noon of June 30 and he will call a meeting of the city council on July 1 to brief the new members of their responsibilities and on what they are entitled to.
Each councilor is allowed to hire three co-terminus technical assistants, he said.
Familiaran, who heads the Bacolod Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19, said it will be up to Benitez to appoint whoever he wants to the post.*
