It was a false alarm.
The Negros Occidental police bomb squad went to the governor’s office at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City at about 12:27 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, after receiving a text message of the presence of a suspicious box from an unidentified sender that could contain a bomb, Renelo Lastierre, head of the Capitol security office, said.
The staff at the Governor’s Office were asked to leave the area but it turned out that the alleged suspicious box did not contain a bomb.
The box sent through LBC contained drinking glasses, he said.
The bomb squad K9 sniffing dog sat by the unidentified box twice fueling the suspicion that the box was compromised. However, when it was eventually opened it did not contain a bomb.*
