The armyworms have hit 40 barangays in nine local government units as of Thursday, June 27,  Nilo Basco, OPA Crop Protection Section head, said.

Destroyed were sugarcane and corn crops on 558.23 hectares in Himamaylan City, Kabankalan City, Isabela, Moises Padilla, La Castellana, Murcia, Cauayan, Ilog and Binalbagan, Basco said.

This has affected 663 farmers, he added.
