
A former policeman, listed as one of the Philippines most wanted persons, was arrested in La Carlota Cty, Negros Occidental, 8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 7, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said today, February 8.
Anecio Lapara Jr., alias “Dondon” and “Junior Pulis,” was arrested at Lapaz Street, Barangay 1 Poblacion in La Carlota City, the PNP reported.
“The PNP remains determined to put behind bars all police scalawags as part of our relentless internal cleansing program,” Sinas said.
Lapara is accused of in three criminal cases for robbery, robbery in bond, and illegal possession of firearms.
He escaped from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Ormoc City while awaiting trial for his criminal cases, and was listed as a “National Most Wanted Person with Reward” under Department of National Defense-Department of Interior and Local Government memorandum circular 2002-39, the PNP report said.
Lapara was a member of Philippine Constabulary Class ‘88 and was absorbed in the PNP in 1991 but was separated from the service in 1999, and led a criminal gang operating in Regions 7 (Central Visayas) and 8 (Eastern Visayas), the PNP report added.*
