Escalante City is the lone African swine fever (ASF) red zone in Negros Occidental, Dr. Placeda Lemana, Provincial Veterinarian, said on Friday, August 30.
A red zone is defined as an ASF infected area.
There are now complying with the requirements needed for Escalante to be classified as a pink zone or with no more ASF infection, Lemana said.
There is no more ASF outbreak in Negros Occidental, she said.
There has also been no reported incursion, or ASF recurrence in certain areas, Lemana said.
“Our farmers are prepared because they already know how to handle such cases”, she added.*
