
Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante on Sunday, May 25, congratulated the Philippine Normal University -Visayas (PNU-V) on the performance of its students in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) for March 2025.
“Being one among the top performing schools across the country, and having two topnotchers are splendid proof that, indeed, Cadiz is really a bastion for quality education,” Escalante said in a press release.
Since its founding in Cadiz on July 15, 1968, PNU-V has produced quality teachers not just for Negros communities, but for the entire country, Escalante said.
The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) on Friday , May 23, announced that PNU-V was among the schools that ranked number one in the LEPT nationwide with a 100 percent passing rate in the secondary level.
It had 133 examinees who all passed, a press release from Cadiz Cityt said.
It tied with three of its sister schools – PNU-Manila, North Luzon and Mindanao – in the top spot.
PNU-V’s graduates Jacob Facultad and Roxanne Ricaplaza also ranked 4th and 7th and the LEPT.
Facultad, of San Carlos City ranked fourth with a 93.20 percent weighted average while Ricaplaza of Cadiz City got a 92.60 percent rating.
Last year, PNU-V also topped the LEPT with a 100 percent passing rate in the elementary level in September.
Also, its graduate Tessh Balaod ranked eighth in the LEPT in September 2024.
Ralger Jocson, executive director of PNU-V, said he was elated by the March teachers’ examination results.
PNU-V is true to its commitment to producing quality teachers, he said.
“The entrance exam and interview for incoming freshmen are really competitive. We see to it that anyone who will be qualified to enter PNU-V is the best and brightest,” Jocson said.
