An 83-year-old woman died after she was hit by a pick-up truck along Araneta Street in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City, on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Police identified the victim as Susana Despojo, 83, a resident of Fiesta Homes in Brgy, Sum-ag.
Police investigation showed that the pick-up truck, driven by Robert Ted Toloda, 49, from Barangay 2, Ilog, Negros Occidental, was southbound when it hit the victim who was crossing the street.
The victim sustained serious injuries to different parts of her body and was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Police said heavy rainfall at the time of the incident may have contributed to the accident.
Authorities said they are awaiting the decision of the victim’s family on whether to file charges against the driver.*
