Elderly man suffers P200K loss in Sagay City house fire

An elderly man lost an estimated P200,000 worth of property after a fire razed his house at Block 7, Aguilar Subdivision, Brgy. Poblacion 1, Sagay City on Monday afternoon, Feb. 9.

The victim, a 73-year-old resident of the area, was informed by a neighbor that his house was already on fire and he immediately rushed to his residence.

Investigation showed that an extension wire was already burning when the homeowner arrived, causing the fire to rapidly spread and destroy the entire house.

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Sagay City declared the fire out at around 4:50 p.m.

Arson investigators placed the estimated damage at around P200,000.

No injuries were reported, and authorities said further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.*
